Hi!!! Thank you for visiting my website!
Music has been a very big part of my life since I was a little girl. It's hard to explain, but I really do have this inner background of music playing all day in my head. It generally is whatever music I have been working on most recently, new ideas for music or just favorite songs. But, it's like a continual little music box inside of me. Sometimes I don't even realize it as much until things get really still and quiet and I notice that it's like I'm still singing inside. No... I'm not insane. Just always singing on the inside.
I am so very grateful for the many opportunites I am given to share what's playing inside me. I have been singing in front of people since I was a little girl. Nothing huge. My first performance was when I was 4 years old. I sang "Jesus Met the Woman at the Well" by Peter, Paul and Mary in front of our tiny little Methodist congregation in Noble, Oklahoma.
I came from a pretty musical family. And, I got my first guitar when I was 12 years old. My grandmother was certain I would put it down after a couple of weeks. But instead, my youngest uncle taught me how to play a little Led Zeppelin, James Taylor and Carly Simon. I was hooked. I realized I didn't need the radio to sing along with, anymore! I could play and sing as much as I wanted, whether anyone was around to listen, or not. By the time I was 14, I had written 30 songs.
Lately I sing quite a bit in church with our praise team. It is such a blessing to be involved in the music ministry. However, that is more "worship" for me, than a musical expression. It's kind of hard to explain. But, getting back into song writing and playing the music that has been welling up inside me is something I was just born to do. I sat it aside for quite some time. And, it's so good to let that passion have a bigger role in my life, once again.
I guess you could describe my particular genre as an ecclectic mix of soft jazz and blues. I'm really kind of all over the map, if you will, in the styles I sing and cover songs I include in my sets. But, I play what is inside. And, so far...so good...
